Journalist with 18 years of experience: "Nowadays you need creative thinking, speed and quick decision-making to work in journalism"
Today there are many women who have successful carreer as well as traditional family. One of them is Nursulu Utemisova who has 18 years of experience in this sphere, married to the love of her life and has large family. Today we had a chance to have an interview with this lady.
- Ms. Nursulu warmest congratulations on
the birth of your sweet baby boy!
- Thank you very much! This is the
happiest moment I have been waiting for for three years. In general, being a
mother of 5 children is a happiness, but it has its own responsibilities and
difficulties.
- I know that you are very talented in
writing. How did you come to this field?
- I grew up with a passion for poetry.
That passion for poetry, prose and literature leads me to this field. Writing
is my childhood dream and I am happy to have achieved it. I enjoy writing. By
the way, the philosophy of Japanese people to turn the work they enjoy into a
source of income is close to my lifestyle. Today I am trying to turn this
favorite greeting into a source of quality income.
-It sounds great, can you tell us in what
field do you like to write most?
- In fact, I like to write inspirational
stories from real life events. I also have a great desire to write poetry. It
would be a great pleasure for me if my writings would give others a little
thought and save them from one wrong step. (smiles)
- I see you have great mission in this
life, what about your childhood? Which poets and writers did you read as a
child?
- Our childhood was different from today’s.
My childhood coincided with the time when our country was just beginning to
regain its independence. Those were difficult times. There were times when the
country's economy was not stable. Nowadays information is readily available. It
wasn't the time to watch what you wanted on TV. We are a generation of young people who read
books. There was a green book called "Kazakh Batyr Zhyry", the first
book I read. I read 12 volumes of it in 3-4 grades. My desire to write in the
first place was revealed by the Kazakh folklore. Then I loved reading books by
Mukhtar Auezov and Sherkhan Murtaza. One of the works that impressed me the
most was Zeitun Akishev and his novel "The Rod of the Glass". It was
a novel that was published 3 years after I was born. It is one of the most
impressive novels, which perfectly describes the events in the Kazakh steppes.
- Why did you want to be a journalist?
- I was very close to my father. I was happy
when my father praised me. I grew up with him. When I was a child, my father
used to sit at his desk and read newspapers and magazines after work in the
evenings. As a child, I dreamed: “When my father opened the newspaper, my name
was Nursulu Bazarbayevna. I wish my father would be happy to see it. "
This dream, this fantasy led me to journalism.
- Great! You chased your childhood dreams
and they came true. But is there any difference between journalism in your
youth and modern journalism?
- In modern journalism you can not be
surprised by information. This is because the information space is developing so
fast. In the past, the news was either on TV or in the newspaper. Another way
to get the news was on the radio. There was no other source of information. And
today it is much higher than the journalism of our childhood. Nowadays you need
creative thinking, speed and quick decision-making to work in journalism.
- What about role model among poets,
writers, journalists? Who inspires you?
- When I was a child, I had a sister named
Rabiga Amanzholova, who conducted the "Anshi Balapan". She was loved
by all the children. She was a great journalist. I respected her and wanted to
be like her. Later, I wrote an article about the life of the world-famous Oprah
Winfrey. I admired her perseverance. As for writers, I love our writer Bibigul
Imangazina. I got acquainted with her through the novel "Taukymet".
It is no exaggeration to say that I follow her writing style.
- Do you want your children to work in the
field?
- It is their choice. I do not want to push
them in their choice. Of course, if my children like this field, I will support
them anyway. I think that one of my twin daughters will come to this field.
-That was very informative, thank you for
your time!
-Thank you too!
