On Monday, January
11, Central Election Commission’s secretary Sabila Mustafina, told the CEC
meeting that the ruling party of Kazakhstan "Nur Otan" won the
parliamentary elections with the result of 71.09%.
She added that the
second place was taken by the Democratic Party "Ak Zhol", which
received 10.95 percent of the vote, and the third place was taken by the "People's Party
of Kazakhstan" (the former Communist Party of Kazakhstan) with the result
of 9.1 percent of the vote.
According to the
preliminary results of the parliamentary elections, only three out of five
participating parties were elected to the Kazakh majilis. The Auyl People’s
Democratic Party polled 5.29% of the votes and 3.57% of voters cast their
ballots for ADAL Political Party. None of the listed parties is oppositional.
According to the
CEC of Kazakhstan, voter turnout was 63.3%. In the previous parliamentary
elections in Kazakhstan in 2016, voter turnout exceeded 77%.
