“In just two days (January 10-11), 35 accidents were registered on the roads of the country, in which seven people died, another 50 people received various injuries. More than 30 vehicles were evacuated from the snowdrifts by the police” the statement says.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs reported that on January 12, due to worsening weather conditions, traffic was closed for all types of transport on the highways of republican significance in the Karaganda and North Kazakhstan regions.

Also, the car traffic in the direction of the North Kazakhstan region on suburban highways in the Akmola and Kostanay regions is limited.

In the Pavlodar region, traffic in the direction of Karaganda and Akmola regions is also limited.


"According to the RSE" Kazhydromet ", on January 13, deterioration of weather conditions is expected in the East Kazakhstan, Zhambyl, Mangistau, Pavlodar and Turkestan regions," the Ministry of Internal Affairs added.


The department recommended that residents of these regions refrain from long trips. Drivers must strictly observe the safe speed and distance between cars, police said.
