Worldwide Smoking Rate

According to the «World Health Organization», approximately 1 billion smokers account for 7.5 billion of the world's population. Every year, tobacco users smoke 5.7 billion cigarettes and throw away about 1 million tons of cigarette butts, according to analysts of the American initiative group «The Tobacco Atlas»: tons of cigarette butts are harmful not only to the environment, but also to people, because they consist of cellulose acetate, a product that is practically not decomposed in natural conditions. Meanwhile, from an economic point of view, the annual profit of tobacco corporations is impressive - $700 billion, but the super-profits of tobacco producers are too expensive for humanity - over the past century, as many people died from the effects of smoking as during the two world wars - about 100 million. Today, the mortality caused by the consequences of smoking in the world is in the first place, according to WHO experts. Every six seconds on the planet from diseases cau...

Unpredictable online travel with the word " FREE"

I was sitting in Telegram (a social network) looking through channels with free giveaways of games, contests, coupons, and scholarships for free study when suddenly an idea came to me. As a Russian-speaking person, I know such a word as "халява (halyava)", which is another form of the word free and means easily achievable and obtained. After all, in our mentality, it is the norm to get things for free, and for most, it is not normal to pay for what you can get for free. However, how are things in other parts of the world? I turned to the Internet with this question, but my search was not successful. There were only the same ideas that I voiced above. I went the other way and wanted to determine how non-Russian-speaking people use the word "FREE". The method that was used is Google trends. I translated the word "FREE" into the most common languages and made an analysis of what phrases and for what purposes they are used at the moment on the Internet. I also...

Why do we need Sharks?

As you know, there are branched food chains in nature: plants create organic matter, animals eat it," vegetarians " are eaten by predators, etc. Sharks are at the very end of such chains or nearby. Despite their agility and aggressiveness, sharks are more likely to prey on weak, crippled and sick victims. The elimination of such from reproduction improves the health of the population. So the sharks could be called "nurses of the ocean." Their activity helps not only fish and marine mammals to exist normally. Sharks also feed on shellfish (squid), there are species whose diet consists almost entirely of plankton-tiny crustaceans, larvae. Finding Nemo (2003) By eating some animals, sharks do not allow their population to multiply massively. It supports in the nature of competition. As a result, species diversity is preserved in ecosystems. And environmentalists have long found out: the larger it is, the more resistant the community is to adverse environmental factors...

Analytical article by Saniya

When we had received this task, I already knew that I want this Infographics to be as unique as possible. I came up with this idea randomly when I was scrolling down the Instagram feed. On Tuesday evening (09.02.21), I started to look through this topic. I compared the use of Instagram Stories among males and females. At first, I noticed that females are more active in the evening. There were 20 new stories from females’ accounts and 7 stories posted by men, considering the fact that I follow 95 people in there. The next day morning (10.02.21) I realized that even in the morning females are likely to make more stories than males. However, in this time of the day women post them not so often. Regarding the afternoon period, the tendency is still the same. Girls make more stories than boys do, but not so much in total. Males are tend to be quiet in Instagram in the morning and afternoon, but be active in the evening.  Talking about content of the Stories, females post more...

Distance learning provides easy access to education. Students need a computer and internet connection. Let's consider some of the disadvantages. First, students face a higher risk of online distraction. Without face-to-face meetings, students can lose control of timing and moti...
